Perspector

Perspector Newsletter, January 2008
In this newsletter, we have a quick description of each of the handles you might have seen on Perspector shapes when you select them. You might have used some of them, but do you know what they all do?

Shape handles

When a shape is selected in the Perspector editor, various handles are shown:

Resize handles

The 8 white resize handles can be dragged to resize shapes. These are similar to PowerPoint's resize handles.

Hold Shift while dragging one of the corner handles to keep the shape's width and height in the same proportions.

Hold the Control key to resize in opposing directions at the same time.
Depth resize handles

The 2 red resize handles resize the depth of the shape.

Hold Control to move the front and back of the shape at the same time.
Rotation handles

There are 3 rotation handles (green). Each rotates the shape around a different shape axis. Hover over the handle to see which axis the handle will rotate around.

Hold Shift to rotate in 15 degree steps.

Hold Control to rotate around a point on the opposite side of the handle. Normally rotation is around the center of the shape.
Push/pull movement handle

You can drag shapes to move them around the window, but if you want to push or pull the shape nearer or farther away from you, drag the movement handle (blue) instead.
Adjustment handles

Some shapes have 1 or more yellow adjustment handles. These can be dragged to alter the shape. For this shape, the yellow handle adjusts the size of the shape corners.
