The toolbars and menus in Perspector can be modified to suit your needs. The following instructions are not exclusive to Perspector - PowerPoint 2003 and earlier also support these types of customizations, as do some other Windows applications.

To move a toolbar, drag the title of the toolbar if it is floating, or drag the gripper bar if the toolbar is docked:

If a pop-up menu has a gripper bar at the top, the gripper can be dragged to tear-off the menu to make a new mini-toolbar:

If there are some buttons or menu items that you use frequently, you can customize the toolbars/menus to make them easier to access.

Start by selecting Customize... from the Tools menu:

The Customize dialog box will be shown. The Commands tab contains all of Perspector's commands in the Categories-Commands lists.

To add a command to a toolbar or menu, drag the command from the Commands list, and drop it onto the toolbar/menu. You can also drag the command from another toolbar/menu, but hold the Control key to copy the command instead of just moving it.

To move a command to another position - or from one toolbar or menu to another - drag the command. This only works while the Customize dialog box is shown.

To remove an item from a toolbar or menu, drag it off. The command will be removed when you release the mouse button, as long as the cursor has changed to this "X" cursor:

It is also possible to create new toolbars. To do this, go to the Toolbars tab in the Customize dialog box, click New... and type the name of the new toolbar. A new empty toolbar will be added along the top of the Perspector Editor window. Drag the toolbar to where you want it, and add commands to the toolbar using the steps above.

Using these customizations you can tailor Perspector so that everything you use frequently is easily at hand.
